to the HafenCity started. Relocating was a new challenge though. The owners and managers of the submarine museum decided on risking this step to preserve the submarine in and for Hamburg.

On March 14th 2007 the biggest hunter-killer and espionage sub- marine of the world was moving again heading for its new moorage (250m east of the old one) in Baakenhafen, Hamburg’s new HafenCity.

The vessel itself, the souvenir shop, gastronomic facilities and the submarine hangar (17m x 15m) were moved within 11 days.
